MISHAWAKA - Adeline C. Johnson Niebauer, 94, of Mishawaka formerly of South Bend died at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009 in Hospice House. Born Adeline Catherine Sbraccia on May 1, 1914 to Anthony and Mary (Cardone) Sbraccia in Pittsburgh, PA, she married Samuel Johnson on June 18, 1942 and moved to South Bend. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1972. Adeline married Frederick Niebauer on April 16, 1977 in Christ the King Catholic Church and he preceded her in death August 19, 1996. Surviving are a son, Kenneth (Susan) Johnson of Elkhart, IN; a daughter, Karen (Gary) McVicker of South Bend; a stepson, Charles (Dee) Niebauer of Middlebury, IN; four grandchildren, Anton (Maribeth) Negri of Katy, TX, Anne Marie (Tom) Negri­Budzinski of Granger, IN, Angela Wotring of Elkhart, and Beth (Jay) Simmons of Griffith, IN; two step-grandchildren, Brook (Penny) Niebauer of Ogden, UT and Adam (Buffie) Niebauer of Wallace, NC; nine great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Vera (Dick) Spotts of Santa Ana, CA, Marjorie Kinsella of Pittsburgh, PA, and Mary Louise (Don) Stephenson of; and two brothers, Anthony (Margreta) Sbraccia of Wilmington, DE and Paul (LaVerne) Sbraccia of Buena Park, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; one sister; a stepdaughter, Christina Leonard; and a granddaughter, Nicole Negri. Adeline was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and Harvest House of the church. She was also a member of the Michiana Gem and Mineral Society of South Bend and the Roseland Citizens Association. She also volunteered at Healthwin Specialized Care Facility for 25 Years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 27th at Christ the King Catholic Church, 52473 State Rd. 933 with Rev. Neil Wack CSC officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday, April 26th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN, 46637 or Healthwin Specialized Care Facility, 20531 Darden Rd., South Bend, IN, 46637.
